We’ve all heard about Instagram algorithms, and how all the popular bloggers/influencers panic when there is a change to it. We see all of them guiding us in ways to help overcome the new variations, via likes, shares, reposts, etc on their latest posts. So how can you or your brand ensure that you’re fine-tuning your Instagram marketing strategy so that this powerful social media platform works for, and not against you?
Our very own Goan blogger, Jade D’sa (@thatgoangirl) filled us in on the latest Instagram marketing trends, and how to keep our clients’ profiles fresh and current, while maximizing its use when it comes to creating engaging content that followers love and relate to. Here are a few tips she mentioned in her session.
Hashtags
A post with at least one Instagram hashtag averages 12.6% more engagement than posts without a hashtag. So it really is worth creating a hashtag strategy for your brand if you want to grow your account! The maximum number on a post is 30, however, posts with the most engagement have an average of just 11 tags. Your main goal should always be to appear among the top posts when you click on any of the tags you choose to use. This can only be done by a trial-and-error method, to find out the best suited for you. The best way to do this is to keep changing hashtags, while using a mix of location-specific, industry-specific and trending hashtags. We were also told how to choose relevant hashtags that aren’t too common or too rare, so that the goal of being found by Instagram users is achieved.
Strategize your captions as well
A good and interesting topic will keep your readers hooked on to your post. Your aim is to keep your users engaged on your post for the maximum amount of time possible. Captions should be in relation to the image as well as have CTAs wherever possible to direct users to the link in the bio, to stories, to the website, while making them comment, share, etc.
Make use of Emojis
This point is in relation to the previous. Everyone loves a little color, other than just plain text. Studies say that the usage of emoticons gives your captions a human touch. Emojis also act as a visual break, amidst a lot of text and images So go ahead, and add that cute blushing emoji, and let everyone know how you really feel.
Post Frequently
More often you post, the more interactions you’ll receive. Thus putting you on top of the feed of your most engaging followers. While posting frequently ensures that you are seen more often on Instagram, remember that quality trumps quantity.
Engage with posts
To increase the visibility of your profile, your job doesn’t end at creating good content. You have to engage with your followers, as well as the posts that show up on the top of the hashtags you use. Choose a relevant hashtag every day and like, comment and engage genuinely, whenever you can.
