Nordic Intent recently had their first ever bachata session and it was a hit!
Conducted by the founder of the Shai-N Dance Academy, the first ever bachata session saw a good turnout, with around 20 Nordic Intent employees in attendance.
The very basics of bachata were covered which made it easy for even the absolute beginner to keep up. A few steps to the side with a tap, then the same towards the front with a tap followed by a twirl. The group was asked to practise each move a few times without music and then with music. The instructor was extremely competent and directed them every step of the way. With a few stumbles here and there (where quite a few attendees got the order of the steps mixed up, resulting in a fair amount of them knocking into each other and giving everybody else a good laugh), the group got the hang of it soon enough. The session was kept highly engaging by having the group shuffle the places they were standing in every few minutes.
What started as a session with a room of highly self conscious people ended with everybody leaving in good spirits. And science can tell us just why. Aside from elevating one’s mood and reducing stress, dancing has a whole host of benefits to its credit:
- It boosts self confidence
- Improves social and creative skills
- Develops concentration
- Strengthens memory
- Boosts attention to details
- Increases strength and flexibility
Considering one session is hardly enough, these classes will be held every alternate Saturday post work. There couldn’t be a more perfect way to end a busy day and welcome the weekend ahead!
