Children’s Day is celebrated across the world on different dates. In India, it is celebrated on 14th November which is Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the country’s first Prime Minister’s birthday. Jawaharlal Nehru, fondly called ‘Chacha Nehru’ was known for his love for children which is why his birthday is celebrated on this day.
On Children’s Day, chocolates and gifts are usually distributed among children in schools where various events such as competitions, music, and dance performances are organized to celebrate the day. It is also a common practice to distribute gifts like clothes, toys, and books to underprivileged children on this day – which is what Nordic Intent did.
A group of underprivileged children was invited to Nordic Intent for an evening of fun and games. They spent the early part of the evening being taken to different departments and were treated to games and music. One department played Draw the Tail on the Cat which saw all the children trying their hand at guessing where the tail was while blindfolded. They also played a game that involved using a straw to pick up a ping pong ball and drop it into a cup.
Another game they played, involved partnering with people from a particular department in a game of Catch the Candy. This involved one person throwing a piece of candy which his or her partner had to catch in a bowl.
In a third department, the children got a chance to dance to some of their favorite Bollywood tunes and had a great time showing off their moves. Each was also given a small gift and a mask of a Bollywood actor or actress to wear while dancing. Other departments also gave them gift hampers to take home as mementos of this very special day. To end the day, each child was treated to a McDonald’s meal.
It was wonderful for all at Nordic Intent to see these kids having such a good time and to also give them a celebration that they would remember for a long time.
