Christmas is underway at Nordic Intent and there have been more competitions since Deck the Halls. There was Christmas Pictionary, a Christmas Memory game, Guess What’s in Santa’s Hat and even a very energetic game of Christmas Twister which saw participants turning into pretzels while playing.
The latest competition was called SOS! The Loudest Christmas Carol which was a Gold event. It’s important to note that some of the Christmas competitions earn teams more points. These events require more work and effort to be put in for teams to win. Those that do win these events have an advantage over the others. Such events fall in the Gold and Platinum category.
Christmas carols are a great way to ring in the Christmas spirit and all of us at Nordic Intent got ready to sing our hearts out. Each department was instructed to put up a team of eight people. As per the instructions, we were allowed and encouraged to make musical instruments from scrap material to go along with the singing. The rules were also simple enough. Teams would be judged on presentation, singing, and harmony. It was the perfect opportunity for all the singers in Nordic Intent’s different departments to show off their singing talents.
Each department was also told that their team would need to sing for six minutes. And so, the teams got busy looking for Christmas carols that could be sung for that long. For three days prior to the event, everyone was busy getting their singing voices ready and some even stayed after office hours to practice their Christmas carols.
On the day of SOS! The Loudest Christmas Carol we learned that there was a twist. As we all gathered together, the event’s organizer asked us if we had practiced enough. We all shouted an enthusiastic “Yes!”. It was then that she revealed the twist. No one was going to sing! Instead, we would have to play music on our musical instruments, act out and lip-sync our Christmas carols! All this would have to be captured on video and sent to the judges to guess which team sang which Christmas carol.
All were quite flabbergasted by this twist but recovered quickly and took to their respective departments to reorganize themselves. In the half an hour that was given to us, each team acted out and lip-synced their chosen Christmas carols and captured it all on video. Everyone who participated looked quite crazy, going through the motions of singing and dancing and all those who saw the videos had a good laugh!
One thing’s for sure, with more fun competitions coming up, the Christmas season at Nordic Intent is only going to get crazier with all these twists thrown into the mix!
