“Enjoy it while it lasts! College is the best time of your life,” are words we’ve all heard at some point in our life. College or ones teens is that part of life, where everyone has their fair share of fallbacks and breakthroughs, may it be with regards to career planning, relationships, or just life in general. While the above statement is absolutely true, and college is a time to create memories, this is also the time to get your life sorted and gain a true sense of career direction.
Keeping that in mind, a few students from F.Y. B.C.A, Don Bosco College visited our Nordic Intent Campus to get a feel and hear from the experts, what a working environment looked like. As part of their syllabus, the subject ‘Entrepreneurship’ got them interested in wanting to learn about different sectors that make a start-up, mainly HR, Marketing and Finance.
The day began at 10 am sharp, where this enthusiastic bunch were right on time to make the most out of their field visit. Before the various sessions began, a survey was taken as to understand their career plan options, and in which direction they were headed, with almost everyone aspiring to become future coders. However, this was all about to change by the end of the day. The first session was taken by Prianka, who is the Training and Placement in charge at Bootcamp, one of Goa’s best training Institutes. She introduced them to the various companies under the wide Nordic Intent umbrella, with a tour of the vicinities.
The second session was held by experts from the HR department, who explained the role of their department. They spoke in-depth about how Human resources specialists are responsible for recruiting, screening, interviewing and placing workers, and also how they handled employee relations, payroll, benefits, and training. Examples of how they oversee specialists in their duties; consult with executives on strategic planning, and link a company’s management with its employees, were given and explained, to make the students understand the role of the HR department better.
After a break for lunch came the turn of industry experts from the marketing team, who shed light on the importance of marketing in a company. Each student was asked to talk about their understanding of the term marketing and then introduce themselves using those ideas. This interactive session broke the ice and got the students more comfortable, by sharing their experiences with brands & campaigns. The DBC students gained an insight into advertising, strategizing, designing & client briefs with real-life examples. A wide array of topics like demography, target-audience, research, stats and analytics gave them a sense of the importance of digital marketing.
Team Building,
After this, it was time for that part of the organization that manages money, to brief the students about their job role. The business functions of a finance department that typically include planning, organizing, auditing, accounting for and controlling its company’s finances were spoken about and explained.
After a whole day of understanding the different roles in our company, the students as well as the staff of Nordic Intent were quite satisfied, with this educational field trip, and called it a day!
