Nordic Intent was in Mumbai recently to attend the launch of Nordic Hub India’s first ever start-up event, where entrepreneurs, business angels, VC´s, corporates, and officials met to connect startups with opportunities.
The Nordic Startup Evening event was held on the 1st November 2018 at a Mumbai co-working space known as the Ministry of New located in the Fort area of South Mumbai.
The event was co-organized by Ann Ollestad, Consul General for Norway in India and her team at the Royal Norwegian Consulate General Mumbai along with the team from the Ministry of New with the aim of connecting Nordic start-ups with business opportunities in India.
Participants interacted with each other as well as listened to presentations and pitches made by others involved in Nordic-India business relations. Three start-ups presented their ideas. One spoke about a water-filtration system that they have developed and the others pitched ideas on waste management.
Nordic Intent is one of the key stakeholders in the Nordic Hub India network. Nordic Intent’s co-founder Caleb Fernandez and her head of Business Development Caroline Espegard attended the event and also made a presentation promoting the Make IT in India incubator programme which is a pet project of Nordic Hub India. Through this incubator program, Nordic Intent aims at merging ideas, knowledge and dedicated development resources, to co-create successful Nordic tech-startups by offering them a 1000 hours to develop their tech idea.
It was a successful event that ended with a delightful dinner reception at Ann Ollestad’s residence. There were a wide variety of guests present from start-ups, established businesses, Innovation Norway, students, and even a Bollywood actor. Guests continued to network during the party, simultaneously enjoying themselves in the relaxing atmosphere. It looked to be the start of many fruitful Nordic – India collaborations in the future.
