Computer animation is a rapidly growing industry with a lot of innovation opportunities and as technology advances, it is being used all across the globe in a major way. Of course, Nordic Intent which prides itself on being a forerunner in the IT industry in Goa will not be left behind and introduces its newest member – Fat Hamster Studio.
The Fat Hamsters, as they like to be called, are extremely brilliant at what they do. This animation studio began as a partnership between two like-minded and enthusiastic individuals who wanted to share their creativity with everyone.
Fat Hamster Studio is made up of Rohan Ponniah and Vesley Carrasco along with a team of talented individuals. While Rohan says he doesn’t have any big degrees in animation, he has studied at Takshaa – Academy for the Artist in Bangalore and then moved to Goa where he took up a course at the Animation and Art School Goa. Vesley studied at the Goa College of Art and supplemented what he had already learned with a course at the Animation and Art School Goa where he met Rohan. His specialization is Animation while Rohan’s is Light and Shade.
Vesley has always loved animated films and working with these kinds of films has always been a dream of his. Rohan shares the same love for animation and decided that he wanted to work in this same field with the intention of creating something special that viewers would enjoy.
Speaking about their workflow, they broke it down simply. All their projects go through the regular pre-production process of Script, Storyboard, Animatics and Concept Art. Once a client explains what they want, the Fat Hamster team creates the Concept Art and gets approval on the Storyboard content. Once these elements are in place, production is a go. At every step of the way, the work is shown to everyone they come in contact with just to get some critical feedback.
The reason for doing this is simple. As both Rohan and Vesley say, “Having an outside view of things is important and even though a person may not necessarily know how to articulate their feelings, they do have feelings towards something and it is our job to decipher and fix what we can according to the general feeling of an asset or scene. Being in the industry for a while has taught us the value of pulling back every once in a while and not forgetting the bigger picture whilst keeping the heart of the film true to its expectations.”
With the entire Fat Hamster team creating such amazing work, Nordic Intent is pleased to have the Fat Hamster Studio as a part of the family and looks forward to doing a lot of great things in the future.
