Julebord is a feast or a banquet that is held in November or December, before Christmas in anticipation of the festive season. The word ‘Julebord’ literally translates to ‘Christmas table’ in English. It’s a Scandinavian tradition in companies and is a highly anticipated event by all employees. Traditional Christmas fare and beverages are served at Julebord in the form of a buffet and employees are invited to partake in this feast with great pomp and excitement as it also serves as a great networking occasion for all.
The Royal Norwegian Consulate in Mumbai, along with the Norwegian Business Association India (NBAI), held their Julebord on the 1st of December at the consulate premises. Hosted by Consul General Ann Ollestad and NBAI Chairman Capt. Navin Passey. It was to be an evening of celebration and networking.
Nordic Intent’s founders Judah and Caleb Fernandez attended Julebord at the Royal Norwegian Consulate for the first time and found it to be an absolutely special experience.
The evening started off with welcome speeches from Ms. Ollestad and Capt. Passey followed by Christmas carols performed by a group of young children who put on a phenomenal show for those present. There were also outstanding performances by famous singer Marianne D’Cruz Aiman who sang “O Holy Night”, enthralling the audience as well as Craig Leach who presented some fantastic renditions of popular Christmas songs.
Among the remaining guests, were a group of Norwegian students who had been in India for 6 months as part of an exchange program between the Universitetet i Agder – UiA and IIT Bombay. The Norwegian students spoke about all they had anticipated prior to coming to India as well as their actual experiences in the country. They found Mumbai to be very welcoming and warm despite cultural differences. It’s hopeful that the Indian students who have gone to Norway will have a similarly wonderful experience while away from home.
As part of the evening’s celebrations, there was also a networking session with the three hundred entrepreneurs present followed by a veritable feast of Christmas dishes including Norwegian salmon.
It was a very festive and special evening with everyone that was present coming together to discuss the year’s experiences and plans for the future too.
