Taking into consideration the current job scenario across Goa and in a bid to create and increase employment opportunities among freshers and experienced, the Office of Commission Labour and Employment, Regional Employment Exchange and Model Careers organized the Goa Job Fair 2018.
The job fair started with some board members sharing their thoughts on the current job scenario and the need for such career fairs. Mr. Rohan Khaunte – Goa’s Revenue, IT, Labour & Employment Minister – too addressed the crowd. He said that the objective of the government behind organizing such job fairs is to properly channelize the creation of jobs as well as skill development.
The Goa job fair drew a large crowd. The job seekers had to basically register themselves at goaempex.in – a job form portal developed by Ninestack. A total of 6214 candidates registered through this portal.
While checking gender wise registrations, we realized there was barely any difference in the registrations, which means women are equally and actively playing a huge role in the tech world.
Among the cities, Panjim and Ponda accounted for the highest number of registrations followed by Margao, Pernem, Bicholim and other cities.
A lot of companies from around Goa participated in this job fair – Industries like the hospitality industry, Information technology, automobile, pharmaceuticals and more were all set with a wide range of job offerings .
Ninestack and Creometric were a part of the drive too. They said they received an amazing response from a lot of freshers as well as experienced people. Moreover, not just the candidates, but also parents came in to drop CVs on behalf of their children. (You see, not just job seekers, but even their parents are taking keen interests in such job fairs).
Overall, the job fair was greatly organized and was definitely a fruitful one for all – the companies as well as the candidates. A win-win situation it was!
