It’s usually no fun getting stranded at the airport in a foreign country. Passengers are anxious to get home to family after traveling so much already. Which is exactly what happened to Judah Fernandez, Nordic Intent’s co-founder on his way back from the Netherlands. He missed his connecting flight to India and ended up having to spend almost 16 hours at Doha’s Hamad International Airport’s Oryx Lounge.
Hamad International Airport has a number of lounges that cater to the need of every traveler who sets foot in the airport. Each of these is remarkable in their own way and Judah got to experience it firsthand at the Oryx Lounge.
The Oryx Lounge is a dream for frequent fliers. Located at the departures area, travelers can avail of its services for a maximum of 6 hours when they pay the equivalent of approximately USD 55 and show their boarding pass. It offers a comfortable atmosphere to sit, relax and enjoy the superior hospitality provided by the lounge staff.
While it is not the most luxurious of the airport’s various lounges, it offers a lot to travelers. It has food and beverage services, a smoking room, business center, lockers, a quiet zone, internet facility and even a gaming room for kids with a foosball table. The lounge even offers shower facilities located just off the restroom area. This is a definite plus for those who have already traveled a long way and want to feel fresh for the next part of their journey.
The quiet zone is another welcome respite for travelers wanting to take a few minutes to close their eyes. The room has recliners, each with a mobile charging point attached. This is usually where the tired will choose to set up camp until they have to catch their connecting flight to their next destination.
As Judah said, “It was a fantastic experience and we would definitely recommend the Oryx Lounge to anyone having a layover of at least ten hours at the Doha International Airport. They can easily spend six hours in this lounge without any problem.”
