Ninestack has always believed good work is often the result of great teamwork, and as such efforts are always on at Ninestack to help employees grow both as individuals and as team players. One such initiative which allows Ninestack to do this are the ShareIt sessions. What started as an experimental session back in April, has now taken such firm root in Ninestack that they’re already on to their sixth ShareIt session. Conducted every Saturday, these sessions are a way for members to relax, let their hair down and also learn a thing or two while they’re there.
The latest session on 21st July was conducted by Chief Architect Gilroy Menezes on coding guidelines. The need for coding guidelines is especially strong when working on long term projects. A set of established coding guidelines can be especially handy when it comes to handing work over from one coder to the other. While enforcing guidelines is a manual task, Gilroy also spoke about how part of the job could be automated with the help of certain development extension tools.
The ShareIt sessions have found a massively positive response among the Ninestack team who see these sessions as an opportunity to not only learn something new, but also to share their knowledge with the other members. Input is taken from Ninestack employees about what they’d like forthcoming sessions to be on. Sessions are conducted by those who have some sort of expertise on the topic at hand. Oftentimes, a member will take up a topic he/she has no knowledge of and will familiarise himself/herself on it from scratch, hence bringing something entirely new to the whole team.
The sessions are much loved and these testimonials are proof of that:
“It is without any doubt that these sessions are definitely helping us grow. Even though the sessions are only an hour long, the content covered is always on point and very informative. Since the speakers are our colleagues, there is a comfort level between both the speaker and the audience. There’s always something productive to take along with us after every session, and I look forward to many more such sessions.”
-Rohit TP (Android Developer)
“Apart from the knowledge I gain and the fun factor involved, these sessions have been a way for us to understand each others thought process. For me, since I’m not a very good public speaker, these sessions have helped me gain confidence ever since I was given the opportunity of conducting my very first ShareIt session.”
-Sagar Dixit (Frontend Developer)
As the team at Ninestack likes to say (or rather as Helen Keller liked to say), alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.
