On their recent trip to Norway, Nordic Intent visited an industrial company called Snø Designstudio. Managing a national and international product portfolio, they provide services within the field of design and product development.
Their services fall under three major categories:
Product design: Their product design takes into account how the product will perform its intended functionality in an efficient, safe and reliable manner. The product is made keeping in mind that it needs to be economical and attractive to the consumer.
Manufacturing design: This is carried out by analysing the product’s mechanical requirements including critical functions like fit, kinematics, structure and user interactions.
Graphic design: This is essential for communicating through the illustrated and written media and is done through various mediums such as packaging design, websites, brochures and stationary.
Snø Designstudio works through a design based process to secure the highest level of quality.
Snø Designstudio has several projects to its credit that have been making waves, the most prominent of which is the AV1 robot designed for a Norwegian startup called No Isolation. Designed for children and young adults with long term illnesses and limited mobility, this telepresence robot can sit on a vacated classroom desk and be the eyes and ears of the sick child at home in bed. The child can see and hear the teacher and the rotating head of the robot also offers a 360-degree view of the class.
They were also the ones to design JBL Reflect; sweat proof, lightweight and wireless headphones sporting a futuristic look, designed with ergonomics in mind to make sure your headphones don’t fall out of your ears.
Nordic Intent had a fruitful discussion with the Snø Designstudio team regarding their services and processes, and we came back all the richer for it!
